At the end of September, the Star class came very close to breaking out the champagne in Scarlino, which hosted the world championships of this legendary class. Switzerland’s Piet Eckert and his Portuguese teammate Frederico Melo got off to an excellent start, leading the fleet from the very first day of racing. Unfortunately for them, the last day of racing was not very successful, allowing the German duo Max Kohlhoff/Ole Burzinski to take the lead. A silver medal, however, which is worth its weight in gold in view of the big names in the discipline who had made the trip!
